Course Programme 2008

LAPG has prepared and updated Management Stage 1 Course for the summer 2008 (please see below).

There will be a series of courses and workshops on Tendering for LSC Contracts as soon as the details of the scheme, if any, are known.

MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION

LONDON 23 JULY 2008

A one day course 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Total 7 hours CPD.

Price £170 + VAT (Total: £199.75) for members

Price £250 + VAT (Total: £293.75) for non-members

Including refreshments (the price includes coffee on arrival and tea and coffee throughout the day, lunch is not included but there is a cafeteria within the centre and shops nearby)

Course leader: Penny Mackinder

This is a course intended for recently qualified Legal Aid lawyers, but with something for anyone new to the theory and mechanics of running a legal aid practice.

The course also introduces the basic elements that a new supervisor, or would be supervisor, needs in order to meet the LSC's requirements under the SQM.

This course meets the Law Society's requirements as the compulsory "Management Course Stage One" to be completed by all solicitors who are in their first three full years with a practising certificate.

This LAPG course is the only such course specifically designed for Legal Aid practice. The day will consist of workshops and delegates will be expected to prepare to contribute and to reflect on their own experience. LAPG have been running this course for three years and it has been very popular with delegates.

The tutor is a solicitor with experience as a partner and as a speaker and writer on leadership and management issues
