Profile of an unsuccessful legal aid provider

[0 replies to topic]

What is the profile of an unsuccessful (Category 3 "unacceptable") legal aid provider? A small High Street sole practitioner or 2/3 partner firm with a general practice including conveyancing and litigation, crime, probate and family work running a "small friendly office where a sense of humour is essential" Fee earners are all aged over 50 and previously successfully ran Green Form and certificated legal aid cases The senior partner keeps his golf clubs in his room and largely does the work of the office boy Office administration amounts to not a lot more than reconciling the office and client accounts with weekly bank statements, paying the office staff, maintenance contracts for office equipment and the annual return of gross fees to the Solicitors Indemnity Fund and applying for renewal of practising certificates
