Friends of Legal Aid Practitioners Group |
On the 4th June 2008 we launched the Friends of Legal Aid Practitioners Group. We have two aims.
The first is to engage with the wider legal community. For almost thirty years we have been fighting on behalf of legal aid practitioners and supporting them. We would like to widen our contacts from members to a wider audience of those who support the aims of LAPG.
The second is to raise income. Members of LAPG subscribe by way of annual membership. We have kept this price low to reflect the financial position of member firms and organisations. That is why we are asking for contributions from those who understand the issues. Your financial contribution will help us in the campaigning, policy and support work we carry out – vital work that generates no income.
Why does LAPG exist?
‘The LAPG insists on the United Kingdom providing a Legal Aid system that protects all the vulnerable in society. We will positively fight any unjust Government decisions or policies wherever that protection is threatened.
We believe that any deviation of that protection undermines and manipulates the essence of a truly caring and safe democracy and demand a jurisdiction where access to justice is available to all without threat, discrimination or prejudice of any kind.
Through ongoing training, practical support and up-to-the-minute information, we support the delivery of high quality legal services by legal aid lawyers, whose hard work, skill and dedication are completely under valued.’
