All practising solicitors and registered European lawyers (RELs) working in legal practice or as in-house lawyers have to complete a minimum of 16 hours of CPD a year. The 16 hours must be made up of participation in accredited training courses (the CPD year ends on 31 October).
LAPG is always happy to develop courses for members and to run courses in-house. Please contact us to discuss courses and price firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a new concept for LAPG. To reach members across all of the UK we will be rolling a series of Pop Up 90 minute briefings to update members on the key issues of the moment.
Our inaugural briefing will be:
‘Post LASPO – Civil Developments’
Since 1st April we’ve had dozens of emails from practitioners asking for guidance and help with LASPO and LAA related issues. We’ve decided to offer some catch-up training on the post LASPO civil legal aid scheme and the LAA’s approach. We have some ideas about content but are very flexible so please email us your post LASPO challenges and we will aim to cover them, anonymously of course, in the sessions.
As your representative, we are in constant contact with the Law Society and LAA and are directly involved in key meetings and briefings. We will share information gathered in those meetings at these pop-up sessions.
The training will be delivered by our Director, Carol Storer, and by Matthew Howgate, LAPG committee member and legal aid consultant.
We also intend whenever possible to host a social after the briefing to give an opportunity for an informal discussion with Carol and Mathew as well as an opportunity to exchange and share local information.
Welcome and overview – post LASPO what has been going on?
Feedback from LAPG members and matters arising from meetings with LAA and MoJ.
Amongst the issues we will cover (but we want your input to decide which are the ones you want included):-
